When you read the words travel and pandemic or covid, what are your first thoughts? Scary, overwhelming, intimidating, complex? Let’s talk about it!
We can’t deny our world is facing a public health issue and could possibly be battling it for a couple more years. This doesn’t mean “travel” is unachievable, nor does it mean “travel” can only be going to Europe for 10+ days versus your home country, own state, or a suitable drive across state borders. Vacations are only a vacation if the planning process and prepping are relaxing for you. If you’re stressed about protocols, restrictions, and guidelines leading up to your departure, how much fun do you think you will have upon arrival? Each traveler is different and each client has particular wants/needs out of their acquired travels. For us, this means always being up to date on recent guidelines for countries and resorts, as well as knowing our clients well enough to place them in a perfect destination for their travel style and comfortability level.
We are also here to ease your mind of any forgotten or looked over information. Each proposal you receive from Macy’s Travels includes specific links and resources for your proposed destination and their current protocols! With things changing every other day it seems, using a certified agency is more important and resourceful now more than ever. Here are a few of my tips for traveling during this pandemic:
- INSURANCE– please please purchase Travel Protection. I have made this mandatory for Macy’s Travels clients prior to working on proposals because the last thing we want is for you to be worried about a pandemic AND losing your money that you work so hard for. Insurance has been an absolute life saver for so many clients this year and I cannot recommend this enough.
- RESEARCH– although we will take the heavy research off of your hands, it never hurts to do your own research knowing your comfortability levels. Vaccinated, covid testing, quarantining, etc. all waiver depending on the location you’re intending to travel to right now.
- BE FLEXIBLE– life is hard right now and every industry is affected in some way or another; this does not exclude the travel industry. Airlines, resorts, excursion companies, and even travel agents are dealing with ever changing rules which means our rules have to change too. Traveling during a pandemic requires some patience, understanding, and flexibility knowing that things may get altered, adjusted, or cancelled without anyone’s control.
- DON’T STRESS– stressing over all of the “what ifs” is going to ruin your experience and vacation. If you’ve done your research, you know what is required of you to travel to your destination and you are okay with said requirements, trust us to take care of you! We don’t enjoy seeing clients spend their hard earned money on a vacation and stressing the entire time leading up to and during their travels.
