For our newest blog we wanted to let you guys in on a secret– the best resorts in the Caribbean for your 2022 travels! 90 miles from Miami, to the French and European owned islands, the Caribbean really has an island and a resort for everyone. We will give you the rundown of every resort we think you would love + the current Covid Entry Requirements for that destination. Grab a glass of coffee (if you’re scrolling through and daydreaming first thing in the morning at work) or a glass of wine if you’re planning your next romantic getaway for you and your partner, and let’s start talking clear waters, Caribbean food, and suntans!

La Samanna, a Belmond Hotel
St. Martin (Saint-Martin/Sint Maarten)

Sun-drenched and palm-fringed, the island of Saint-Martin/Sint Maarten is one of the most beautiful in the eastern Caribbean. It also has a dual personality: the north of the island is a little outpost of France, and the south side oozes the warmth of the Dutch. The border between them is basically non-existent, and visitors are free to enjoy everything from water sports and cultural festivals to shopping.

COVID REQUIREMENTS:
-Non-Vaccinated Travelers must present a negative Antigen within 24 hours of arrival or PCR test within 48 hours of arrival. You must also submit an Electronic Health Authorization form which can be found online.

-Vaccinated Travelers must present their Vaccination Card and completely an Electronic Health Authorization Form which can be found online.

All travelers must purchase Covid-19 Insurance which is an integrated step in the EHAS application.

All travelers returning to the US must present a negative Antigen Rapid COVID-19 test 24 hours prior to departure.

Why this resort?

La Samanna is located on the French side of St. Martin which is glamorous enough in itself. The Belmond collection of resorts started in 1976 when they got they keys to a boutique hotel in Venice, Italy and transformed it to a European getaway dream. Just a year later, they developed carriages for the Venice Simplon -Orient- Express. (You have to look up their history; between world renowned resorts, trains, and boats, Belmond has mastered luxury, customer service, and aesthetic cultivation.)

Having said all of this, La Samanna is no different than their other locations! Belmond specializes in European locations with a few resorts in Mexico, Caribbean, Asia, and Africa. All of their resorts send you into a lulling time machine of vintage yet modern, cozy but clean, and relaxation with amazing activity & amenities. At La Samanna, you can stay in a Deluxe Ocean View and have the best coffee outlook on the entire island. Traveling with other people or splurging for a romantic getaway? Stay in one of their Suites or Cottages. What truly sets this resort apart in the Caribbean is their pristine location in St. Martin. If you aren’t familiar with the island, it’s a grande 37 mile long island and it can be difficult to find a resort in a private area, with crystal clear water, privacy, good service, and still in a close proximity to the airport and town. La Samanna has it all and more!

A few of my favorite things about La Samanna:

• Two Restaurants, Wine Cellar, and Baie Bar with beautiful tiling and mixologists with a beachfront view
• Private beachfront cabanas and full beach/pool service
• An infinity pool and decked, full service pool with vintage inspired striped chairs and umbrellas so you truly feel like you’re on a French island
• Private transfers from the airport to your resort and back to the airport at the end of your stay
• Tennis, Fitness Center, Spa, and use of kayaks, snorkeling gear, Hobie Cats, and paddle boarding
• Wrought Iron balconies with intricate detail and oversized chairs on every balcony (including the Deluxe Ocean View)
• Less than a mile from the airport and 15 minutes at most from all the in-town activities your heart desires

Secrets Moxché
Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Playa Del Carmen is in Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula. It is just south of Cancun on the stretch of a beautiful coast called the Riviera Maya. It looks out on the beautiful turquoise waters of the Caribbean and is about 45 minutes from the Cancun Airport; 40 minutes north of Tulum, Mexico. This southern area of Cancun is the heart of the Riviera Maya; once a fishing village known as Xaman Há; Nowadays it is a cosmopolitan beach town with a wide gastronomic offer and variety in lodging and entertainment options.

COVID REQUIREMENTS:
– All travelers must complete a Health Authorization Form 12 hours prior to arrival in Mexico which can be found online.
All travelers returning to the US must present a negative Antigen Rapid COVID-19 test 24 hours prior to departure.

My personal love and attraction to this resort is the ability to perfectly blend an Adults-Only, All-Inclusive, Luxury resort with Riviera Maya’s boho and chic vibe. Secrets Moxché officially opens for reservations April 18th, 2022 and the amount of people lined up to experience the resort first hand is the largest interest a Secrets resort has had in a while, maybe even in all of Riviera Maya/Cancun in general!

A few of my favorite things about Secrets Moxché:

• Adults-Only meaning you can truly relax, enjoy a romantic environment, or take a girls trip knowing the resort is catered to you from dining options to the activities offered on-site
• All-Inclusive & Unlimited-Luxury®. Secrets’ standard for all of their resorts is never far from outstanding but with their newest resort, they are kicking things up a notch in the forum of opulence with 11 unique dining options (two of which are beachfront,) 24hour dining, and 9 bars which range from your polished lobby bar to the few swim-up bars throughout the resort, a sports bar, and organically styled hutch bar.
• The pools & beach– you guys, there are over 7 heated pools, 3 man-made cenotes, and a rooftop pool for Preferred Club guests. The beach is secluded, beautiful, and offers ocean-side service everyday
• The accommodations are everything & more. From their most economical Jr. Suite Tropical View to their Preferred Club Presidential Ocean View Penthouse, the decor is immaculate, organic, and everything a bohemian traveler could dream of

Eden Rock
St. Barths

Whether you call the charming Caribbean isle of Saint Barthélemy by its full name, or nicknames of St. Barths or St. Barts, it is still delightfully sweet. This shining gem of the ocean is home to some of the world’s loveliest beaches, such as Grand Cul De Sac; and snorkeling sites, including Lorient beach, with its tropical fish and colorful giant sea turtles. The island’s capital city of Gustavia, named after King Gustav III of Sweden, once belonged to that country. Awarded to Sweden in exchange for trade rights in 1784, the island was sold back to France nearly one hundred years later in 1878. Today, snorkelers and divers from all across the globe swim through clear blue waters in search of turtles, eels, leopard rays, barracudas, sharks and colorful tropical fish. And curious shoppers search for duty-free treasures in the posh stores of Gustavia and St. Jean.

-If you are connecting via St. Martin all travelers must complete their pre-arrival travel declaration form within 72 hours of arrival in St Martin (required in both directions) AND must adhere to their individual vaccination or testing requirements which may be reviewed here.

-You must be vaccinated to travel to St. Barth’s for leisure at this time. All Vaccinated travelers may enter with proof of FULL vaccination performed at least 2 weeks prior to arrival. No additional pre-arrival testing is required.

Why this resort?

Eden Rock is tucked in an amazing location in St. Jean Bay (Saint-Jean is a quartier of Saint Barthélemy in the Caribbean. It is located in the northern part of the island and it contains one of the best known beaches on the island and is the center of water sport activity on the island.) Established by French Caribbean aviator adventurer and occasional treasure-seeker Rémy de Haenen, the resort welcomed its first guests in 1950. Since then, it has established itself as the preferred private and discreet bolt-hole of many glamourous Hollywood characters who quickly became friends of St Barths. It’s no secret if you visit St. Barths you’re more than likely going to see a celebrity as this is one of the most private, luxurious, and best kept secrets in the Caribbean. Eden Rock’s emphasis is style, casual elegance, ambition, and welcoming.

Having 37 rooms and 150 villa options, the resort maintains it’s small scale ambience and privacy. St. Barths is enough draw on its own by Eden Rock holds a special history and oomph to it, making it a must on our list of Best Caribbean Resorts for this summer!

To get here you have a few options:
1. You can fly into SXM (St. Martin Airport) and catch a short 15 minute charter flight from there to St. Barth’s.
2. You can fly into SXM (St. Martin Airport) and hop on the Great Bay Express which is an open-ocean small ferry.
3. You can fly into SUJ (San Juan Airport) and catch a charter or private more luxurious plane for a 12-15 minute flight.
4. You can fly privately into SBH (Gustaf III Airport in St. Barths)

A few of my favorite things about Eden Rock:

• It’s located on a rocky promontory surrounded by white sandy beaches, gin clear sea and amazing coral reefs full of colorful wild sea life. It’s near the very heart of the island, St Jean, where you can stroll to the shops, boutiques, bars, and restaurants situated in the village nearby.
• Not for nothing, but the resort itself is a dream come true. When you hear the words “luxury, private, European, Caribbean” this is what you picture.
• 3 Restaurants and 2 Bars ran and curated by a Master Chef who has developed several Michelin-starred kitchens and restaurants from NYC to Chicago to Tokyo and São Paulo. Yum
• Family Oriented– although the rooms and villas are spread out enough you can absolutely indulge in a romantic getaway, it is also an amazing resort for families. The island itself is one of the safest Caribbean islands and the resort intertwines their own founding families with their names of restaurants, rooms, etc.
• Plenty to do on-site! From gyming and training to relaxing on gorgeous white sandy beaches to watersports, boat trips, art display, music, and superior shopping.
• They offer an app created for Eden Rock guests, clients and friends, InsidER is such an innovative tool for your stay in St Barths. It shows local activities, restaurant recommendations, daily news, current events, art and books selection, daily weather forecasts, local issues and flavorful menus. (talk about customer service)

Excellence El Carmen
Uvero Alto, Punta Cana

Considered the No. 1 destination for golf in the Caribbean and Latin America, the country boasts 25 top courses. Offering plush accommodations and romantic scenery resorts in the Dominican Republic are the perfect choice for destination for weddings and honeymoons.

Discovered by Christopher Columbus, the nation shares the Island of Hispaniola with Haiti. The capital city, Santo Domingo, is the oldest in the New World. Its Colonial City, with its charming cobblestone streets and historic stone architecture, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The country’s official language is Spanish. Play a round of golf in La Romana on the east coast or explore its recreated 16th-century Mediterranean village of Altos de Chavón. For my honeymooners and anniversary celebrators, an Excellence Resort is always one of my first picks. El Carmen offers an array of complimentary perks like a Mimosa Breakfast in Bed one morning, discounted spa treatments, a Hydrotherapy Session for the two of you, a romantic dinner at your choice of restaurant (I would recommend one of their two beachfront options–Las Olas or Lobster House, and a special Welcome Letter with fresh fruit and sparkling wine upon your arrival. Yes, please

A few of my favorite things about Excellence El Carmen:

• Their Preferred Club option is one of my favorite and honestly only, resort’s that I heavily encourage this at. When you stay in a Preferred Club room category, you have access to their Magna restaurant, and exclusive lounge and bar, a private beach area with amazing beach side service and cabanas, a PC guest only pool, upgraded liquor and beverages in your room, BLVGARI bathroom amenities, upgraded room service menu, complimentary beach bag waiting for you in your room, and private check in/check out services.
• All – Inclusive Luxury; once you step onto property, don’t pull your wallet out🥂 With 14 restaurants, 1 Food Truck, and 10 bars (including the best coffee + pastry + fresh juice bar I have ever had at an AI resort) you will never run out of yummy options. When you’re ready for more activity, grab any of the complimentary non-motorized water sports like paddle boards, Hobie Cats, snorkel gear, or kayaks!
• During the day, they always have something unique and fun going on without it being a rowdy, all inclusive resort you may be used to. It truly is the best of both worlds for couples or groups. Bracelet making classes for couples, Bocce, Table Tennis, Board Games, Archery, Billiards, Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball, Cooking lessons, Dance lessons, Yoga classes, and so much more.
• Their aesthetic is chic & modern with a Caribbean twist. Some may disagree, but the room and resort decor plays a heavy role in my vacation experience! Their suites incorporate elements of nature to make you feel like you’re truly on an island in the Caribbean but adding the floor to ceiling windows in every room, mid century modern accent and lounge pieces, as well as minimalist decor contributes to a relaxing and home-away-from-home experience.

Four Seasons Resort & Residences
West End, Anguilla

Nestled in the northeastern Caribbean, the British Overseas Territory of Anguilla offers an easy island vibe along with a fascinating blend of South American Amerindian, Arawak, French and British cultures.

I don’t think it’s much of a secret that the name Four Seasons associated with any hotel or resort resonates luxury. Staying at one on an island, really takes any kind of stress in your life away as it’s hard to be thinking of anything other than the beautiful water in front of you, the resort’s well-kept grounds and neutral/earthy decor, and 5 star service you receive from check in to the beach to room service! Centered on Anguilla’s most popular beach, with 3 pools and 1 Adults-Only pool, complimentary water sports such as kayaks, paddle boards, snorkel gear, beach chairs & umbrellas, sailboats, and several on-site amenities you will never want to leave.

To get here you have a few options:
1. You can fly into SXM (St. Martin Airport) and catch a short 7 minute charter flight from there to AXA (Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport.)
2. You can fly into SXM (St. Martin Airport) and hop on a 25 minute private or public sea shuttle to Anguilla.
3. You may also fly into Anguilla from Antigua, Puerto Rico or St. Kitts then catch a charter flight to AXA.
4. You can fly privately into AXA.

A few of my favorite things about Four Seasons Anguilla:

• It’s unique! Most Caribbean island visits you hear about are Jamaica, Mexico, Virgin Islands, etc. which are all great, don’t get me wrong; we even have several of these on our list! But how often do you hear of someone’s travel stories coming from Anguilla? It’s close to St. Martin and the USVI/BVI but on the top of a secluded, paradise. Usually when you find a smaller, unique island or location, the resort choices can be slim but the Four Season knocks it out of the water with their amenities, service, aesthetic, and attention to detail to honestly make the best vacation whether you’re a couple, family, or looking for a destination wedding/celebration.
• The range in accommodations is amazing. Often times it’s difficult to find a resort that can cater to several different group dynamics but the Four Seasons offers traditional guest rooms, suites, private residences (think condo style,) a Penthouse, Townhomes (think multi level condo style,) and Villas.
• With 5 options for on-site dining and 3 bars it’s unlikely you’ll want to leave the resort but if you do, Concierge will happily arrange a ride for you into town where you’ll find some amazing local cuisine and shopping.

Rosewood Little Dix Bay
Virgin Good, BVI

Much of the world is familiar with the breathtaking Baths of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, with their otherworldly, boulder-lined turquoise seas. There are also three other larger islands, plus around 60 smaller islets and cays, in this remarkable volcanic Caribbean archipelago. Surprisingly, only 16 of them are inhabited.

No matter where you hang your hat on the British Virgin Islands, you’ll want to explore beyond your shores.  Island-hopping is easy, with regular ferry service connecting the islands which is just the beginning of why this resort had to be added to our list!

COVID REQUIREMENTS:
-If you are connecting via St. Martin all travelers must complete their pre-arrival travel declaration form within 72 hours of arrival in St Martin (required in both directions) AND must adhere to their individual vaccination or testing requirements which may be reviewed here.

-Vaccinated Travelers must provide proof of negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken within 3-5 days preceding arrival, or Rapid Antigen test taken within 48 hours preceding arrival. If pre-arrival test is taken within 48 hours of arrival to the BVI, travelers are not required to test upon arrival. If pre-arrival test is taken out of that 48-hour period, travelers will be subject to a Rapid Antigen test upon arrival. Guests will need to be pre-registered for this test which is subject to a cost of USD50 per person, upon entry to the BVI. You must also provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination status, and proof of travel insurance which includes minimum approved coverage for: COVID-19 medical costs including hospitalization, doctor’s visit and prescriptions, medical repatriation, and quarantine accommodation cost.

-Partially Vaccinated travelers must provide proof of negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken within 3-5 days preceding arrival. Travelers will be subject to a Rapid Antigen test upon arrival to the BVI. Travelers must be pre-registered for this test, which is subject to a cost of USD50 per person, upon entry to the BVI. You must also provide proof of travel insurance which includes minimum approved coverage for: COVID-19 medical costs including hospitalization, doctor’s visit and prescriptions, medical repatriation, and quarantine accommodation cost and proof of partial COVID-19 vaccination status.

Why this resort?

Now, fresh from a multi-million dollar renovation, the resort stays true to its heritage, blending a uniquely Caribbean sensibility with the understated refinement of mid-century modern design. Rooms and suites are tucked amid manicured gardens, along shaded walkways, while spacious villas offer peerless beachfront and hillside settings overlooking the bay. All accommodations offer ocean views and dedicated butler service. Perched high on a bluff your views are unmatchable!

With a half-mile beach in front of you, and access to snorkeling gear, kayaks, floats, beach chairs, and umbrellas, you’re pretty set for a vacation in paradise but there is more to Rosewood’s Little Dix Bay than just their outstanding beach life.

To get here you have a few options:
1. You can fly into SXM (St. Martin Airport) and catch a short 40 minute charter flight from there to EIS (Tortola Airport) then Rosewood Little Dix Bay can pick you up in a boat for a 20 minute ride to the resort.
2. You can fly into STT (St. Thomas Airport) and catch a 15 minute flight to VIJ (Virgin Goda Airport) where Rosewood Little Dix Bay can pick you up.
3. You can fly into STT and take one of the ferry’s for an hour long ride to Virgin Goda’s dock where RLDB can pick you up.
4. You can fly into SUJ (San Juan Airport) and catch a private charter into VIJ or EIS where RLDB can pick you up from either airport for a 5 minute or 15 minute ride depending on which airport you arrive at.

A few of my favorite things about Rosewood Little Dix Bay:

• From Caribbean fine dining to beachside farm-to-table cuisine, the resort is home to an eclectic and inspired mix of 5 Virgin Gorda restaurants and 2 bars. You can even download their full menu’s online and check for any special events coming up during your stay! This resort is Allergy friendly which is a huge plus for so many. It can be difficult and sometimes stressful to think about paying for a resort and not knowing if you’ll be able to eat much or enjoy yourself– Rosewood Resorts always encourage guests to let them know of any food allergies or intolerances so they can accommodate throughout your entire stay.
• It is only 5 minutes from the airport! You would think this may be loud– it’s not.😉 It’s purely convenient. Seeing as the island itself is fairly small, you can get to and from town or island hopping easily and even better, concierge will assist with setting up any boat days, transportation, or activities you may need while enjoying your stay.
• Their SENSE® SPA overlooks the Sir Francis Drake Channel and offers the ultimate relaxing experience for a beachside treatment.
• They have two pools and beachside/poolside service for the days you can’t be bothered to do anything but relax, read a book, tan, and repeat.
• The most economical accommodation on the property is an Ocean View Cottage. Needless to say, all of their rooms and suites are top-tier, beautifully decorated, and a good size. Little Dix Bay has rooms from Ocean View & Beachfront Cottages, to Treehouse and Private Pool suites, and larger Villas that can host up to 8 guests!
